Our Feedback

Sam’s Feedback

Really helped with financial situation.  My wife is carer – and she was getting very worn-out with the stairs.

Robert’s Feedback

It provides really comfortable support for my back, neck and head. I also have recovered a degree of independence getting in/out of a chair.

I’m less dependent upon my wife .

I’d like to thank you for the simple and efficient process for submitting my claim and receiving payment. The chair is making a real difference in my life.

Lee’s Feedback

By providing the funding that enabled us to have the flooring replaced to a high enough standard to allow him to get around at home. It provided peace of mind and supported me in using the powered chair.  It reduced the physical burden on me as Lee’s carer and made it easier for me to keep the home clean.  We are so grateful for the financial support and help Challenging MND have provided us, it has had a huge impact on our quality of life at a very difficult and challenging time.

Phil’s Feedback

It has made a massive difference, both physically and mentally. We now have an accessible shower room which enables me to shower daily. It is safer for me and has been designed so that I can use my Rollater in the bathroom, with a low level non-slip shower, grab rails for support, non-slip flooring and comfort height toilet. We both feel much happier that the layout safety features give me some of my independence.  Debbie is much happier with the knowledge that I can use the new shower safely and independently.  CMND are a wonderful charity. They have made such a difference to my daily hygiene through the grant. They didn’t hesitate to help us and we are extremely grateful for their help and support.

Peter’s Feedback

Respite Grant

It has allowed some space to think and concentrate on our mental health and now we are happy to be home together again.

It also made me think I need to work with my MND team and not decline the things I need.

My wife was able to have a break, concentrate on her mental & Physical help.

Can’t fault the service and thank them enough!

Conaire’s Feedback

It has taken a  lot of stress away.  This quick efficient grant was easy to access and the help was deeply appreciated.

Made my life easy for my holiday, my carers have less to worry about.

The work at challenging MND is crutical. Sunshine through stormy weather.

Steve’s Feedback

We were particularly moved by the kindness, generosity and support from the charity – its lovely to think there are people prepared to help people in need.

Thank you to all at Challenging MND for the wonderful holiday to Cyprus which you enabled us to have. Here are a few photographs of our holiday, Steve got a monopod to attach his camera to and was able to take wildlife photos which is his passion! We also had a few drinks which is mine! Thank you doesn’t seem enough for the experience that we had- and the memories we have made.

Jeremy’s Feedback

Allowed us to have a purpose built ramp installed at the front of the property so it can be accessed via a wheelchair.  Makes it easier to transport from WAV into property.  Very happy with service provided.

Neil’s Feedback

Absolutely incredible. They honestly couldn’t have been more helpful or supportive. Emails were responded to quickly, questions answered and explained very well. In fact the last email I received made me cry as I was so touched by how wonderful everyone had been.  It gave us the opportunity to make memories together. Dad has been interested in planes his whole life and had an itinerary of things he wanted to do while we were in Lincoln, so we had a very hectic but lovely time away together.  It was great, it helped as we were all together so we could help dad getting around and feeding him etc.  It was great, it helped as we were all together so we could help dad getting around and feeding him etc.

Catherine’s Feedback

The speed of the decision-making by Challenging MND was simply incredible. At a time when you really need some help … speed is all important, and they were magnificent.  It opened up all the options about providing a full range of caring, not just for the body but for the brain as well … MND is a most wicked disease it can take away so much, both from the sufferer and from the family and friends. Catherine is fortunate to have a great family, she also has a great group of friends, all of whom regularly visit supporting and helping Catherine and myself.

Challenging MND now fits into the category of ‘Great friends’. Thanks you.

The service and support that ‘Challenging MND’ has a ‘cost’ that can readily be identified, … try putting a ‘value’ on that support that they provide to the MND sufferers, their family and the carers.

John’s Feedback

Challenging MND have been remarkable in the promptness of their response and swiftness of their follow up action. I have been so delighted with all our dealings with them.  The support given by Challenging MND has far exceeded my expectation. Providing money to get another, better, mobility scooter has meant so much to me and has given me a new lease of life. Going out on it is an absolute pleasure and has changed my life immeasurably.  The support John has received has changed his outlook on getting out and about completely. He now enjoys going out on his mobility scooter as it is so much more comfortable for him and he isn’t constantly worrying if he will have enough battery to get him home! It has enabled him to take our dog on more varied walks, including along the local river nearby which he hasn’t been able to do for a few years since losing a lot of his mobility in his legs.

Overall, the process of applying and being awarded the support was made very straightforward, from the initial completion of the form to receiving the support, we thank you for making the process easy.

Paul’s Feedback

We were able to make amazing memories on our best holiday ever!  I was able to enjoy time with my husband and children that I may not have in a fully accessible situation.  Thank you so much for your generosity and making a difference to our lives. The work you are doing is fundamental and incredible.

Denise’s Feedback

We could not have afforded this bucket-list once in a lifetime trip with maybe just months to live, the help provided a great memory and experience.  My husband had to care for me alone for the entire week so his back is sore and he was tired but loved every minute so he tells me.  This grant allowed me with my carer/husband to witness the grandeur and majesty of the Norwegian fjords on a ship with adapted facilities which otherwise we could not have afforded.

Hayley’s Feedback

We are trying to make the most of every single moment. We think it’s incredibly important to find the joy in small things, and making memories as a family is incredibly important to us.

We wanted to go on holiday to Tenerife, as we have been so many times as a family in the past and our mum had always planned to go there again with us again. We wanted to do it very last minute for obvious reasons and it was difficult to pull the funds together for all three of us, and we knew if we were going we wanted to make the most of it and not be worrying about how we’d afford it.

The whole process was so straightforward and compassionate, I can’t believe that such an incredible charity exists – it’s incredibly selfless and such a huge support in such a difficult time. You have made it possible for us to go on what might be our last holiday where our mum can eat, drink and enjoy herself – it means more than we could ever try to put into words.   A huge difference, we had a fantastic break with our mum – we can’t express how grateful we are.

Allan’s Feedback

The council refused a grant so this is helpful.  I will be able to stay independent for longer.

Alison’s Feedback

I can not wait to get out in the wheelchair more so that I can go where I like and have some freedom.  Thank you so much.

Stephen’s Feedback

My wife who is my carer, no longer has to struggle putting heavy metal ramps in place each time I want to go out in my wheelchair.  Thank you Challenge MND your help and support is greatly appreciated

John’s Feedback

It’s helped support my dad’s independence in so many ways.  It’s helped carers to have access to useful facilities which mean they need to support with washing much less.  Thank you – it’s made such a difference to our whole family.

Marion’s Feedback

Very helpful as wetroom extension and downstairs living adaptions was needed.  Thank you for your contribution and speedy response – much appreciated.

Wayne’s Feedback

Better chair to enable us to get out more.  Much easier for my wife to get in the vehicle.  We cant thank Challenging  MND enough,  It will enable me to get out and be more independent.  Thank you very much.

Karen’s Feedback

It helped fund the lift installation which has provided me with a safe transition between the bedroom and downstairs living area and restored some of my independence as I can now manage that journey more than once a day. I no longer have to fear the ‘gauntlet of the stairs’ and my family are incredibly relieved that the risk of a nasty fall has been mitigated. It is heartwarming to know that there are organisations that can help when you really need it.

Challenging MND helped significantly to facilitate a lift installation to enable me to overcome some overwhelming challenges. They provided important help when I needed it most.

Thank you for all you do.

Brians’s Feedback

Seriously cannot thank you enough for the grant towards our holiday. This allowed us to take family which made a massive difference enabling Brian to transfer onto the rides. He was so happy we have had the most amazing time which you have made possible for us. Thank you so much

Enabled me to enjoy my holiday to the fullest, best holiday ive had in a long time.

The grant from CMND has been an absolute godsend.  Enabled us to have almost normal holiday, relieving a lot of pressures we would usually encounter.  We can not thank you enough for helping us achieve this goal.  The smile on my face says it all, a million thank you’s.

Keith’s feedback

It’s a total game changer being able to use the toilet alone.  A lot less work for my family as there is much involved in everyday life.  I am truly thankful to this wonderful charity. They really need to know how eternal grateful myself and my family are. Thankyou so so much

Ben’s Feedback

I was very thankful that challenging MND agreed to  provide a grant of 2,000 pounds towards the cost of the bathroom. Fantastic!

For me it’s brilliant not to have to go upstairs for a shower and also take care of my toileting needs in a safe and effective way. I know that in time I might not be able to make it up the stairs and so having this downstairs bathroom will be absolutely essential. It gives me massive peace of mind.

The downstairs bathroom will make the lives of my family and my support team much easier. It’s been designed so that when I am in a wheelchair I can use a shower chair in the shower and over the toilet. Overall it will hugely help support the family’s quality of life as well as my own.

Thank you so much for the support you have given me. It makes a massive difference In terms of quality of life both for me and my family.

Paul’s Feedback

This has given my husband more independence to be able to gain access to the garden so he can spend quality time with family and friends within a nice environment and more importantly access to the garage conversion.

Beryl’s Feedback

You have made a big difference.  The new wheelchair has given me some independence back.  A big difference to my husband as he no longer needs to push my wheelchair, makes going out easier.  A bit Thank you for this grant.  The wheelchair has changed my life for the better.  Everyone i have spoken to has been kind and caring. I cannot thank you all enough.

Raymond’s Feedback

We live by the sea and my love is watching the boats and wild life near our home.  My chair now enables me to go further along the coastal path, under my own steam!

My wife is my carer, as we are roughly the same age it was getting difficult for her to push me in a chair.  Our sincere thanks for helping us achieve this improvement to my life.

Richard’s Feedback

MND is a very expensive disease to have.  The grant to meet the entire outstanding balance for the hoist was unexpected and very emotional to receive.  The ceiling hoist allows carers to safely transfer me from bed to wheelchair and back again.  I am overwhelmed with the help i have received from Challenging MND.  The day after asking for a grant i was told that you would pay the full amount and a few days later the supplier had received payment.  The was amazing and thank you again very very much for your help.

Kenneth’s Feedback

It will continue to allow me to drive my van after my legs no longer allow me to. My wife won’t need to drive me to places I need/want to go, meaning she Can continue to work.  My hand controls will allow me to retain my independence for much longer!

Once again, I can’t thank Challenging MND enough for my grant, without which my adaptations would not have been possible.

Jade’s Feedback

They were able to make a substantial financial contribution to our bathroom, this took a lot of financial burden off us

They made us be able to stop worrying about money, after spending a lot of money moving house due to my needs it was lovely to not have to worry about paying for a new bathroom.

It meant they weren’t breaking their backs trying to get me washed every morning.

Kola’s Feedback

I want to take this opportunity to thank you and your wonderful team for making it possible for me to attend my daughters graduation.

Mo’s Feedback

Great effect, allowing me to become independent going out and a massive rest to my wifeMy wife is the carer, and she is so happy that I can go out on my own,  Thank you so much for a fantastic service and awesome promptness. You guys have been wonderful.

Fen’s Feedback

Thank you so much for making it possible for Fenwick to go to Superbike weekend. He had a very emotional but happy time.

Jonathon’s feedback

I am grateful and feel so blessed for all of the organisations associated with MND that have helped me over the last year, but the role of challenging MND shines as a bright light. The speed with which you responded and the instant decision on the help you were going to give me allowed me to go back to the supplier with confidence and that supplier was able to deliver my arm support a few days before we went on our cruise.

I’ve had to learn to be very patient when asking for any grants so your approach was just so refreshing.

I want to thank you all for the fantastic help you give people like me.

Brenda’s feedback

Trying to keep my independence is the biggest challenge at the moment. I can’t just leave the bungalow and walk to the local shops without assistance. I can still drive, which is great, but once I arrive anywhere it’s the walking again. We even moved from a house we had lived in for 34 years to a bungalow to give us the best chance of managing. That was a massive expense we didn’t expect at our time of life.

The support will help me go out with my family more, with them physically having to aid me, at the moment.

Rick’s feedback

Hard to express just how amazing your support has been. We are exceedingly grateful and tell everyone about your organisation.

As my husband’s wife and care giver I can say sincerely it’s wonderful to have unconditional support like that offered by your organisation at possibly the most challenging time in our lives. You gave us ‘smiles’.

Thank you for your kindness towards us at this time, it goes a long long way.

Linda’s feedback

Challenging MND have been incredible. They funded a weekend away for our entire family when everyone’s money, patience and ability to enjoy life was wearing thin. We had an idea for a weekend away where the whole family got together for a while but, if I’m honest, the reality of it was a bit overwhelming. Challenging MND paying for the trip took away a huge part of that and means that my mum and dad can also save the little savings they have for other things that MND likes to crop up. I also want to mention how quick the application process was and how speedy Challenging MND approved and paid for our grant. I can’t tell you how helpful that was. With my mum’s MND, it feels like we spend half our time explaining the situation and then waiting for people to respond.   You just took it off our hands so quickly and easily. I can’t tell you how thankful I am for this kind of efficiency.

In reality, this will probably be our last time away as a family and it would not have been possible without your help, so we are all really, really grateful.

Simon’s feedback

A huge support as it allowed us to lengthen our stay in Spain and allowed my husband to spend longer with his family who live there.
More time for us as a family to create memories on holiday and time for our children to have a break
We are extremely grateful for the generous donation given to us by Challenging MND and the quick response to our request.
